Shades of grey

I have always loved detective stories. There is something about the atmosphere that just captivates me entierly. These three paintings are part of a paint project we did at school. We were to select at painter and a era of paintings that we would focus on. But in truth this is my tribute to the fantastic world of Noir movies.

Famè Fatale

Scene of the crime

On the way home

Across the sunsett

This is the painting i did for my dad. He have always loved building things, so he have built himself three or four kajaks. I sort of lost count after a while. But the point still stands, the man loves to be out in mother nature and just live. And for the longest time I didn't realy get it. But as they say, with age comes wisdom, or something similar. And now I see it. As well as many other wonderfull aspects of my dad. Well it seems I need to pain my mother a painting soon.

Zebra

My sister has a thing for Zebras ever since she got a Zebra toy as little she have been obsessed with the species, not that I'm really the one to talk, I have a attitude towards cows that cannot be labled normal. Anywho, when one turns 15 in Norway we have a tradition called Konfirmasjon Coronation it might be in english. Basically its the entire family comming together celebrating the passing from child to grown up. So being the "fantastic" brother that I am this painting was given as my gift.

Monroe

This painting was comissioned by my sister. Well to tell the truth, i asked her if she wanted a painting for her birthday. She said yes, I asked her what cind of painting and she told me something like this piece. I think she would like the actuall one so I considered buying a replica. Althogh that also seemed a bit cheap, even if the replica would cost me more than doing this. Anywho after about a year I finnaly managed to pull myself together and make the piece now standing before you. And I must admitt I'm quite happy with it.

Grayhawk:

Year: 2008
Acrylics and paper on metall.

This painting is my tribute to the great mind of Garry Gygax and his legendary
game Dungeons and Dragons. The edge was also here created by making a border of tape along the edge. Then I painted the entire surfuse white before I painted the background. The two people are glued on and where drawn on the backside of two 3.5th ed character sheets. Then I morrored it using a window and collored it with normal drawings pencils. As one can see the characters are partly on the outside of the image. And if you want it, it symbols that the players are part of a world. But often stil not off the world.

3.16

Year: 2008
Acrylics on canvas

This painting is my tribute to the good lord Jesus. I got the idea for the painting when I was sitting on a lecture just doodling. The white lines passing over the picture was created using strips of tape over the canvas before i laid down the background colour. The idea was to have john 3:16 written over and over in the lines. But I decided against it. Other than that I have little more to say about the painting.

Land of fools:

year: 2005
acrylics on canvas

This painting was for a friend of mine and is loaded with inside jokes. It took me over a year to get around to paint it. I started by giving her the sketch for her first birthday, and then the next one she finally got the actual painting.
